課程概述 |
本課程介紹各種因果理論以及相關的形上學議題。本課程分成兩個部份。在第一部份，我們會檢視因果此一概念並探討因果究竟是什麼。我們會從休姆的分析開始，並討論常見的批評。我們也將檢視其它休姆式的理論，包括Mill，Mackie和David Lewis。此外，我們也會介紹機率因果論，因果過程論，以及因果操?論等關於因果的理論。
此課程的第二部份將探討與因果相關的形上學議題，包含：我們要如何理解因果的方向性（即：為何因要先於果），以及向後因果的可能性等等。

本課程目標在使學生
（1）理解休姆的因果理論以及其所面臨的問題
（2）掌握各種因果理論以及背後的哲學動機
（3）理解關於因果方向性的哲學議題

課程要求 |
課程以演講方式進行，但修課學生須針對有興趣的主題進行課堂報告，並於期末交一篇5000字以內的期末報告。
